Molly: I still haven’t watched last week’s episode or all of one from the week before, so this is my first time seeing Lucy Lane. I started shipping her with Kara long before all this, but now that I’ve seen her, I can confirm that this is the girl that makes you realize you’re not as straight as you thought you were. She’s the one you say, “Well, if she asked me out on a date, I’d probably say yes,” and you think it’s all in jest. She’s the one who gives you butterflies in your stomach when she hugs you. She’s the one. She’s Regina George’s cousin in a leather jacket. She has that same kind of magnetic pull. Lucy Lane isn’t even my type, I’m just speaking facts here. One day, Kara is going to look back and realize that saying, “I want to date her,” wasn’t a joke. I can only hope that day will be sooner rather than later.
Amber: Every time this episode used the term “friend zone” I died a little inside. Let’s not do this Supergirl. Let’s just not.
Molly: The only comfort was that usually we don’t use this term to describe women and that’s barely a comfort since it’s a dumb dumb dumb dumb phrase anyway.
Amber: This was definitely not my favorite episode. For a show that’s all about Girl Power we spend an awful lot of time with James Olsen and Wynn (That’s his name right?) giving Kara long wistful glances. I’m here to watch Supergirl beat people up. I honestly do not care about her romantic entanglements.
Molly: Every show is allowed one not-great episode in their first half season and this was Supergirl’s. I didn’t hate it, but it was not special. I don’t have a lot of patience for love triangles in general and this one seem particularly boring.
Amber: Since we didn’t do anything last week I just want to say real quick that Livewire was an awesome episode. Livewire is such a fun villain and she worked perfectly with this show. It’s been nice taking a break from all the Kryptonian drama. I’m putting in my official request for more Cat Grant/Supergirl team ups.
Molly: I still have not seen that episode but I love the Batman the Animated Series episode with Livewire, so I am here for all of that and officially second Amber’s request for Cat and Supergirl teaming up.
LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
Molly: As much as my entire brain is screaming, “CAPTAIN AMERICA: FRIENDSHIP WAR TRAILER,” I did tear myself away from watching the Bucky trailer to look at the Legends of Tomorrow promo. I don’t need much convincing to get on board Legends of Tomorrow, but this did an admirable job nonetheless!
I’m now looking forward to the costuming a whole lot. Not just because of this dress but also mostly because of this amazing dress:
I spend most of my life singing the “I could look at her forever” line from Sunday in the Park With George in regards to Sara Lance, but if I’m going to look at Sara Lance forever, I hope it’s in that outfit. It’s stunning. She looks like an undercover Natasha Romanoff. 100 million points to Gryffindor.
Amber: I AM SO EXCITED. It’s hard for me to find a place to start because I am so ready for this show. But this trailer marks one of two times that I have enjoyed Ray Palmer on screen. Unsurprisingly both times are directly linked to him getting smaller.
Molly: Rip Hunter is dramatic as fuck and I love it. The way he savors telling them they’re going to be legends is exquisite.
Amber: “I’ve seen men of steel die and dark knights fall,” omg Rip. Tone it down, just a notch. We get it. You’ve met Batman.
Molly: That’s one of my favorite moments of drama queen Rip Hunter because he’s not doing it for their sake. Presumably, they don’t know who Batman is (with Supergirl around, the ‘man of steel’ thing is more up in the air). He’s not doing it to be dramatic for them, he’s doing it because HE knows how dramatic it is.
Amber: Did I mention I’m excited? Cause I am. The Vandal Savage plotline is a good one to start out with, but I’m worried it’s going to be too similar to Ra’s or Damien Dhark. Cause we’ve had an awful lot of evil, magical, d-bags who want to take over the world. It’s probably time to switch it up a little.
Molly: It’s odd, because Vandal Savage sounds like the name of a big, cuddly teddy bear, not someone evil. Whoever heard of someone called Vandal Savage being a bad guy?
Amber: While I could do without Hawkman or Heatwave on the team, I think it’s a great line up. I imagine Ray and Sara will mostly head up the team, but I’m looking forward to Firestorm and Hawkgirl. I’m also looking forward to everyone arguing with Captain Cold.
Molly: I also want to make it clear that no matter what, I’m all in on headcanoning the entire team (Rip too) as bi. Sara’s already there, Leonard is clearly in love with Barry Allen, and maybe headcanoning Heat Wave as bi will make me care.
Amber: Legends of Tomorrow is gonna be fun. That’s basically my take.
We hope your Thanksgivings were good (or at least tolerable) and if you haven’t already WATCH JESSICA JONES.
